Alex is a BBC Introducing artist and the principal lutenist for La Nuova Musica, The Irish Baroque Orchestra and Poeticall Musicke. He specialises in chamber music. His continuo playing has been described as 'sinewy and sensuous, ornaments rarely exaggerated' - Observer and he 'virtually shreds his accompaniments with fervent plucking and percussive strumming.' — The New Yorker. In his spare time he enjoys making lutes and managing the Veterum Musica micro record label.
